Your thrilling destination
Queenstown: an adventure awaits
Now here is a city with a taste for risk. Book your plane ticket for Queenstown and set off to discover the "adventurer's paradise", where you can try a variety of extreme sports all year round. Like a challenge calling to the visitor, the Remarkables chain of mountains dominates the valley, with their notorious black runs loved by skiers and snowboarders in winter and Alpine slides in summer. However, the region mostly owes its thrill-seeking reputation to the trend for bungy jumping: Kawarau Bridge was the world's first commercial bungy jumping site. If you're after the ultimate adrenaline rush, nothing beats the 8.5 seconds (134m) of freefall at Nevis Bungy.

Queenstown, a natural beauty
This small town with just 10,000 inhabitants will also take your breath away for the sheer beauty of its natural landscapes, which have often been immortalised by Hollywood. With your Queenstown airfare deal, you'll be plunged into the jagged relief of a picture-postcard landscape. Appreciate the majestic beauty of it with a boat trip across Lake Wakatipu on board the TSS Earnslaw, a proper steamboat that's been operating here for over a century. If you're interested in wildlife, the Kiwi Birdlife Park is the place to get a little closer to the local fauna.

Queenstown, an oasis of friendliness
Much like New Zealand as a whole, Queenstown is notable for its high quality of life. Take advantage of Queenstown travel deals, and enjoy a bucolic pause in the Queenstown Gardens where joggers, romantics and families stroll among the exotic plants and over stone bridges. In the evening, head to the Mall, the main commercial street. Stop for a meal at the lively FergBurger, it's unanimously said to serve the best burgers in New Zealand. In short, you'll find thrills, great food and a relaxed vibe in this little city; all you need to do is find your New Zealand flight promotion now.

This river was once one of the world's richest in gold deposits. And although the gold rush is over, the rush towards the water continues, as Shotover River has been a popular place for water sports for several decades. But it's not just for thrill-seekers. It's certainly ideal for canyoning but the river also has some truly spectacular views that can be admired from its shores as well as its waters, all along its 75 kilometre length.

Queenstown is inseparable from its lake, Wakatipu, the third largest lake in New Zealand. Bordered by a glacier and mountains, the highest of which is Mount Earnslaw (2819m), this lake was the reason settlers chose to colonise Queenstown.
Its unusual shape is responsible for a rare phenomenon, a 10cm "tide" every 25 minutes. According to legend, this "pulsation" is the work of a monster, Matau, which sleeps at the bottom of the lake.
Luckily, fishermen and swimmers have nothing to fear and can enjoy the lake undisturbed by monsters.

Since the film adaptation of the Lord of the Rings, New Zealand has enjoyed a new status, visitors flocking to walk in the steps of Frodo and company.
The Remarkables is the chain of mountains which watches over Queenstown. These mountains feature frequently in the films.
If you're not on a quest for a ring, you can ski the slopes in winter or climb the peaks which - as the name suggests - really are remarkable.
